In October, national government transfers to Argentine provinces and the City of Buenos Aires showed a significant decrease. The total amount transferred was 226.109 billion pesos, a 28.7% year-on-year drop in real terms, marking the third consecutive monthly decline and the worst October performance since 2005. This sharp fall was primarily driven by a 56.3% reduction in funds received by the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (CABA). However, when excluding CABA, transfers to the 23 provinces actually increased by 4.2% year-on-year. The City of Buenos Aires and the Province of Buenos Aires were the largest recipients, jointly accounting for 62% of the total transfers. The most significant disbursements included: Compliance with a Supreme Court ruling in favor of CABA (64.585 billion pesos, 28.6% of the total), Hospital Functioning (33.153 billion pesos, 14.7%), and the Universalization of the Extended School Day (27.826 billion pesos, 12.3%).
Decline in Argentina's Government Transfers
Argentina's October transfers to provinces fell 28.7% year-on-year. The decline is mainly due to a sharp drop in funding for Buenos Aires, while other provinces saw an increase.
